13 Dec Spoken Word : Sari Bennett Music : Sea Swallow
Bill Lawrie and Claire Moodie are a folk duo who have been composing, performing and recording in their travels from Broome to Fremantle to Claire’s native Glasgow and back over the past few years. These long migrations gave rise to to the name - Sea Swallow - after the migratory bird that flys between the shores of Broome and the far northern hemisphere. And also to a swag of beautifully crafted songs. In performance, Sea Swallow is a blend of two very different voices, styles and folk and country blues traditions. Sea Swallow recorded their first CD “Before” on their travels in 2020. The album has had a good response to airplay in 2021. They were featured in the Albany Harbourside Concert series in 2021 at Fairbridge Festival, among other shows. They are looking forward to appearing at the Little Folk’s Supper Club, and bringing some brand new material along with established favourites.
Sari Ellen Bennett is a WA based writer and performance poet who lives on Molloy Island. She is a collector of moments and a seeker of the sacred hidden within the mundane. Her writing style is unique, weaving whimsical imagery with hard hitting concepts, challenging the status quo, and questioning human behaviours.
